first established the One UMMS Staffing Pool in response to a growing need for qualified professionals to assist us in all aspects of delivering exceptional care. Its primary goal is to fulfill the staffing needs of our mission. We have since shifted our focus and our primary goal at this time is to provide staffing for
member hospitals in the Capital Beltway region and at the Charles Regional Medical Center.
As a
Certified Nursing Assistant,
you will provide ad hoc assistance in a clinical capacity as needed to these locations.
* This is a floating position and travel between Capital Region Medical Center and the Charles Regional Medical center is to be expected *
General Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant, assists in the delivery of patient care under the direct clinical supervision of the Registered Nurse. Direct care activities are delegated by the Registered Nurse and consistent with the Maryland Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act. Direct care includes activities involving the care and nutrition of patients, provision of direct observation, and transportation of patients and documentation of those activities.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Demonstrates skills in obtaining vital signs, including height and weight.
Demonstrates skills in providing assistance to patients with activities of daily living.
Demonstrates skills in obtaining specimens.
Assists in providing orientation and instruction to patients.
Completes appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital standards.
Assists in patient's transfers and transports.
Maintains a safe, clean, recuperative environment.
Communicates effectively with other health care providers to ensure continuity and coordination of care, appropriate care delivery, and to report changes in patient's condition.
Performs additional functions and other activities assigned.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
One year as a CNA is preferred.
Currently certified as a CNA by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
