RN NEW GRADUATE NURSE - MEDICAL OBSERVATION UNIT - 1 MEMORIAL - FALL 2020 START DATE','NEW00B9P','!*!New Graduate RN needed for the Medicine Observation Unit on 1 Memorial This opportunity is for a new graduate RN who is currently in the final semester of nursing school or who has graduated within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date as well as less than 6 months work experience as a RN. This is 36 hours/week, 12 hour day/night and weekend rotation shifts, with flexible preferred scheduling. It is expected the applicant will have taken the NCLEX exam and successfully pass and registered as a RN prior to the first day of employment. Tentative start date: October-December 2020 - 1 Memorial is a 25-bed Observation Unit providing care to adult observation patients with a variety of medical diagnoses. The environment is fast paced and requires a great deal of interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork. As a member of the team, the nurse facilitates admissions, treatments, transfers, and discharges of patients. The unit is open 7 days a week and 24 hours per day. The staff on this unit will also be cross trained to staff 4 West, a 12-bed Medical Surgical Observation Unit providing care to a varied adult population to include observation, extended recovery from PACU, and Medical Surgical acute care patients awaiting an inpatient bed assignment. Both 1 Memorial and 4 West are considered one team in two locations but under the same management team. New Graduate RNs are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program. This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationship which support development as a professional nurse. This is 36 hours per week 12-hour shifts rotating Days/Nights.','!*!Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor's degree is preferred. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina by the start date of employment.
