ARE YOU SKILLED WITH WORKING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITES AND THE ELDERLY?
We are looking for a skilled CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) to become a part of our facility’s compassionate care-giving team. The CNA will interact directly with patients, providing comfort and transportation, monitoring their vital signs and assisting with daily living needs. We are searching for a dedicated, compassionate and energetic individual to be a vital link between our patients and the nurses and other facility staff.
DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF (DSP)
Direct Support Staff are individuals who work directly with individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities with the aim of assisting the individual to become integrated into his/her community in the least restrictive environment. A DSP also acts as an advocate for the disabled individual, in communicating their needs, self-expression and goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS
Have current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification;
Have the experience, training, education or skills necessary to meet the participant’s needs for Community Access services as demonstrated:
Direct Support Professional (DSP) certification; or copy of high school diploma/transcript or General Education Development (GED) diploma; and at least six (6) months of experience providing behavioral health related services to individuals with developmental disabilities, or documented experience providing specific supports to individuals with disabilities.
Have evidence of an annual health examination with signed statement from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant that the person is free of communicable disease;
Must have an annual Negative test results for TB Skin Test.
Be legally licensed in the State of Georgia with the class of license appropriate to the vehicle operated if transporting participants as follows:
Have a valid, Class C license as defined by the Georgia Department of Driver Services for any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating not in excess of 26,000 pounds.
Have no more than two chargeable accidents, moving violations, or any DUIs in a three (3) year period within the last five (5) years of the seven (7) year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) period if transporting participants.
Agree to or provide required documentation of a criminal records check, prior to providing Community Access services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct assistance in self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills training, retention and improvement to individual participants and groups of participants;
Provides direct assistance in training, retraining or improving the access to and use of community resources by individual participants or groups of participants;
Implements the behavioral support plans of participants to reduce inappropriate and/or manipulative behaviors and to acquire alternative adaptive skills and behaviors;
Provides active support and direct assistance in participants’ participation in community social, recreational and leisure activities;
Ensures individuals’ health, safety and welfare, enhances the quality of individuals’ lives, and supports community inclusion. Adheres to Department of Human Resources Office of Regulatory Services, requirements.
Completes and updates all daily, weekly and monthly records, reports, logs, casework notes, administrative paperwork, fiscal reports, and medical records in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
Collaborates and cooperates with involved agencies, family members, and other service providers; participates in meetings and provides relevant information.
Transports individuals in personal and/or company vehicle for community outings or scheduled appointments. Responsible for individual’s work related personal and financial transactions. Works independently with minimal supervision in field location assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Knowledge of acceptable social, work, and interpersonal behavior.
Knowledge of basic math.
Ability to understand and relate to persons with disabilities.
Ability to learn to identify symptoms associated with mental health diagnosis and to learn to apply interventions when symptoms occur.
Ability to learn and apply positive methods to modify behavior.
Ability to maintain information in a confidential manner.
Ability to observe and assess the needs of individuals.
Ability to maintain professional and respectful interaction with individual and co-workers.
Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task work assignments.
Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
Knowledge and the ability to utilize good listening skills and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English.
Ability to write legibly in English in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
Ability to speak clearly and express self effectively in English.
Ability to facilitate groups and/ provide individual skill instruction.
