Registered Nurse (RN)/ Geropsych','03191-68123','United States-Colorado-Aurora-The Medical Center of Aurora','Full-time','Nursing - Professional','!*!Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Geropsych RN oversees and directs the care of the geriatric person with psychiatric diagnosis. The RN will have basic physical assessment skills and demonstrate ability to care for the geriatric person with a co-existing psychiatric diagnosis. An ability to provide knowledgeable, empathetic care of the person requiring is essential. Serves as primary nurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Functions to seek methods to improve patient care on an ongoing basis. When the need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

CPI certification within 3 months of hire and re-certification every year thereafter.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN Preferred.
Experience: One year of acute care and one year of inpatient behavioral health preferred.
Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to maintain healthy personal boundaries, protecting the therapeutic integrity of the nurse patient relationship.
Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager and Unit Charge Nurse.
