PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing nourishment between meals.
Provides adjunct care such as administering medications, non-sterile dressings, ice packs, heat treatments, therapeutic baths; and applying restraints.
Maintains client stability by checking vital signs and weight as needed per care plan.
Provides client comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting client; attending to client requests, and reporting observations of the client to the nursing supervisor.
Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
Help with personal hygiene care such as but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and serves as a companion to client.
Allows and encourages residents to do as much of their own care as possible.
Providing care across a variety of settings, including group homes and day service programs.
Job Requirements
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology and relevant nursing care.
Friendly and professional bedside manner.
Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills.
Understands legal implications of client care.
Empathy and the ability to care for the client's social, emotional, physical, and mental health.
Comfortable taking direction from Case Manager or Director of Nursing.
Ability to multi-task, be flexible and organized.
Ability to remain calm and handle any emergencies that may arise.
Exceptionally patient, good at listening and responding to others' needs.
Excel at interpersonal skills and at easy with intergenerational conversations.
Able to work both independently and as a team member.
Ability to understand and analyze the situation.
Well organized, detail oriented and confident personality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid certification with accredited CNA training course.
CPR certification.
Must have a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance and access to a vehicle.
Prior Caregiver experience recommended.
Ability to work in technology systems submitting work related tasks such as client notes, communications, scheduling, and shift information.
Training in specialized areas of care such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease a plus.
