Position Summary
The Ambulatory Care Unit is open Monday-Friday and has 30 private rooms separated into prep and recovery for outpatients undergoing cardiovascular and radiology procedures. This position is responsible for direct care of outpatients who are having a procedure in the cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology lab, interventional radiology, radiology, and infusion services. This includes assessing patients, starting IVs, performing preop orders, recovering patients including monitoring vital signs and telemetry, assessing level of consciousness and assuring the patient recovers from procedure and sedation. The majority of time is spent standing, walking and bending with frequent lifting and pushing of patients on stretchers or wheelchairs. This position must demonstrate the ability to use departmental equipment, appropriate documentation techniques, good judgment regarding emergency and safety issues, as well as and being proficient in the preparation and closing of the unit. This position has exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Licenses/Certifications Required
Arkansas RN licensure. This position also requires the completion of basic dysrhythmias as well as BLS, ACLS and PALS (must be obtained within six months of hire).
Educational and Skill Competencies Required
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed to work in the state of Arkansas. Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferably in the cardiac setting.
