This is an exciting opportunity to join the Childrens Nursing team at a progressive and cutting edge university where you can contribute to our undergraduate and post graduate programmed developing the skills and knowledge of our students. Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in the fields of adult, child and mental health nursing and in midwifery have been designed with our students’ career and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment help students maximise their potential and develop their core skills, preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The School offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy. As a lecturer at University of Plymouth, you will be expected to contribute to, and as appropriate, lead the provision of outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, scholarship and knowledge transfer. At Plymouth, being an outstanding teacher involves being an outstanding scholar, so that delivery enhances the learning environment and contributes to a high-quality student experience. You will specifically contribute to the academic development of children’s nursing relating to the care of children and families in all healthcare settings. You will join our enthusiastic and proactive children’s nursing team who have expertise in primary and secondary care teaching across all programmes where children and young people come into contact with health care. You will currently have the following experience to bring to this role: Registration as a children’s nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council register In depth knowledge and understanding of current children’s nursing practice Ideally contemporary experience in clinical skills teaching An awareness of current priorities Evidence of the potential to contribute scholarly activity Relevant recent clinical experience You would either possess or be willing to work towards: A Master’s degree qualification in a relevant health related subject A recognised teacher qualification or willingness to obtain one Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
