The career advancement for a nurse includes working as a head nurse who leads the floor team of the nurses. They will be able to reach this position after working in the hospital for two to five years. The nurses will also be able to work as preceptor by training the nurses about the policies and procedures of the hospital. The nurses who have attained a Masters degree can work in administrative and management sections in the health care and medical industries. Those nurses who have higher degrees can take up the career of teaching in colleges.

The beginning salary of a nurse ranges from $17 to $22 an hour. There are many deciding factors for a nurse's salary such as the location and the type of organization for which the nurse is working. Roughly, the nurses will earn about $50,000 per year.

Nursing is the most suitable job for those who are capable of providing care and compassion to ailing people. As it provides professional satisfaction and money simultaneously, people can give serious thought to this profession.
