Nursing Assistants often work in nursing homes which serve as home for the aged; often they suffer from serious medical conditions. Nursing homes are designed to provide food, shelter, and medical care for their residents; they also will provide social, religious, civic, creative, and intellectual activities.
In addition to providing medical and social care, nursing assistants help the residents with basic daily activities such as: eating, dressing, bathing, grooming, going to the bathroom, and moving from place to place
Nursing assistants are expected to have gone through basic education first. They also must have been working in a hospital as registered or licensed nurses. The basic nursing training and subsequent examinations are also necessary. However, in the nursing home, nursing assistant that do not have professional qualifications are also allowed to work. But their work is limited.
Good communication skills and attitudes such as patience, perseverance and love are highly important.
