Medical News Today recently surveyed the nursing field, asking more than 1,200 nurses about working as a travel nurse. More than 50% of the respondents said working as a travel nurse is more rewarding than working as a staff nurse. The two main reasons given by respondents as to why working as a travel nurse is more rewarding were flexibility and pay.
Salaries for travel nurses are often up to 20% higher than those for staff nurses. Benefits are great, too. Hound, the largest online job-search engine, reports that travel nurses are given benefits such as free housing and travel expense reimbursements in addition to standard benefits. Plus, assignments are usually given in 13-week increments, freeing up travel nurses to spend time with their families or simply take time off while still earning a high salary.
