One of the roles of an emergency registered nurse is to diagnose and treat individuals that enter into the emergency room. They work in hand with doctors and other nurses that work under the RNs supervision.
Features
Some of the other duties that an emergency RN has to provide include teaching patients and the members of their family about an injury or health condition, and any treatments that are available. Diagnoses must also be recorded in patient records.
Promotion
There are some nurses that work in this field that go on to obtain more education in the field. Becoming a nurse practitioner allows nurses to be able to fully diagnose patients, create plans of treatment, write prescriptions and order tests for diagnosis.
Characteristics
In order to work as an emergency RN, you will need to be able to work during stressful situations. You will have to move and think quickly during emergencies as well. Having patience and empathy are also great characteristics to have.

The average annual salary for RNs in the emergency field is between $38,000 and $82,000.
