To become a nurse tech, you can study in a registered nursing program or become a graduate of a nursing program and then obtain a license by taking the state exam.
Functions
The tasks you must perform as a nurse technician depend on where they work, their experience and education level. If you have a bachelor's of science degree in the nursing field, known as a BSN, and have taken the NCLEX exam, you will have more responsibilities than another that is a first year student in a nursing program.
Responsibilities
Some of the tasks a nurse tech may have include planning, assessing, evaluating, delivering and diagnosing nursing care. They are also required to have a focus on dietary, comfort and activity needs of their patients. They may also have to check temperatures, sterilize instruments, bathe patients and prepare the rooms for the patients.
Settings
As a nurse technician, you could work in a variety of places, including home health agencies, hospitals and physician's offices.
