Step One: The first thing you need to do in order to become a elder care liaison is to receive proper training. This is a professional field that involves extensive training and experience with assisting the elderly. You are able to obtain experience in this industry by working within nursing homes or an assisted living facility. Or through volunteer work at a hospital.
Step Two: Your next step would be to obtain a degree in a specialized field, such as nursing, health services, social work, human services, psychology or gerontology. It isn't required that you obtain a degree in these industries, but it will help you find employment assisting the elderly.
Step Three: Next, you will need to become certified. This too isn't mandatory, but it will show that you have the qualifications and knowledge to enter into the field.
Step Four: Now, you can begin writing up a plan to care for geriatric patients. You can either start your own business or begin working for someone else in this industry.
Step Five: Get the equipment that will be needed for your work. Some of the things you will need is a computer with Internet access, fax machine, business phone, business cards, brochures and letterhead. This will all be necessary if you are looking to start your own business.
Step Six: What will also help with your business is to set up a website. Consider buying liability insurance and professional malpractice coverage just in case you are faced with a lawsuit.
Step Seven: Last, you will need to market your business to acquire clients.
