As a midwife, you would be able to provide your patients with gynecological care, prenatal checkups and pregnancy and post-pregnancy education. You are also required to offer support during labor and delivery of your patients baby. In midwifery, you are also supposed to assist patients with emotional and psychological welfare, not just the physical.
Partnership
Midwives act as a supporting partner for expecting mothers throughout the term of their pregnancy. They share their knowledge and experience with the mothers they are working with to ensure that they gain maximum empowerment.
Informed Choice
A midwife is also responsible for relaying important info and support to the woman they are hired by. This will enable the mothers to make informed decisions regarding their own care.
Education
It is important that midwives maintain appropriate education and skills to ensure they are providing the safest environment during for their childbearing clients. If at anytime an issue is beyond the midwife's skill set, they must refer the mother to a professional who is qualified.
Birth Process
Each women is different when it comes to childbirth. In most instances, the childbirth phase progresses naturally without too much interference from the midwife.
